Paula and Nicky are both experienced in recruiting staff. Rural People Ltd has grown out of a desire to work with the farming sector and provide quality staff for roles that may be harder to fill.
We are Paula and Nicky and we have established a small specialised company called Rural People Ltd. With over 20 years’ experience between us within recruitment, careers, and HR we know we are in a strong position to help you with your staffing issues and offer our expert advice.
We pride ourselves on working closely with our clients to find the best possible fit for their farms. Finding the right person isn’t just about matching a skill set. It’s about ensuring that the new person is going to fit in with your team.
Anyone can “fill a job” but that’s not us. We will come to your farm and take the time to really get to know you, we intend to build long term lasting relationships with our clients and so it is important for us to spend this time so that we get to fully understand your business operation.
Once we have found you the right person we will continually work with you to ensure you retain your best people. It’s a two-way street, if you look after them, in return they will become a loyal and lasting employee.
Paula Conti, South Island Sales Manager
Paula lives in rural Waipara, Hurunui and has twenty years experience as a recruiter and wanted to set up her own recruiting company because she was fed up with recruitment companies getting a bad rap. She is determined to provide an open and honest service for both employees and employers. She promises that she will not just place anyone in a job for the sake of fulfilling a role, it has to be the right person.
Nicky Fairbairn, South Island Operations Manager
Nicky combines an HR Management Degree and a Diploma in Careers Guidance with a passion in working with people. Nicky is born and bred in the Hurunui and grew up on a farm. These days she owns a sheep and beef farm with her husband Andy in Scargill, North Canterbury. Her vision for Rural People Ltd is that she wants to work with you to get a greater understanding of your business. She just doesn’t want to match skills, she wants to match ethics and personality so that the people she places will have all of the qualities that you require.
