Paula Hems - Owner/Operator

My recruitment journey started way back in 1996 when I answered an ad in the paper in Melbourne for Hays Personnel.  I never imagined that all these years later I would be running my own company specialising in recruitment to the NZ dairy industry.

However, here I am, and I have never been more passionate about recruiting for a particular industry as what I am now.  Having recruited everyone from the receptionist through to the CFO of some major corporations I couldn’t be more pleased and prouder to be supporting a great industry and with how my career has evolved. 

 Having just 2 days ago celebrated our 5th birthday I am looking forward to continuing my journey with my wonderful clients and candidates.  In my spare time I enjoy being part of North Canterbury Masters Swim Club and enjoying our beautiful countryside now I call New Zealand home.

Lexi Keane – Area Manager Canterbury

Hi I’m Lexi Keane, I have been working for/with Rural People for 6 months now. I live in Amberley, North Canterbury with my Builder Husband Mike and our two fur babies.
I grew up on a farm & come from an agricultural sales background and am throughly enjoying the recruitment industry. 

I love the close relationship we have with our farmers and there businesses which allow us to make good decisions around candidate placements.  
I have learnt so much in such a short time and look forward to using all my knowledge in the future to find the right people for the job!

Kelly Gould – Area Manager – Southland and Otago

Having been dairy farmers for the past 21 years, my husband and I recently decided it was time to make some changes and follow a new path. Having made that decision, we have recently sold our beautiful 300 Ha dairy farm just near Geraldine and I am now on my new adventure as the Area Manager for South Canterbury and North Otago with Rural People. I am very excited to start this journey with Paula and the team. Although recruitment is new to me, dairy farming is not, and I bring a wealth of knowledge which I believe will help me in assisting my clients to find the best possible people for their farms. I look forward to meeting you all soon.

Ansar Mahmood - North Island Area Manager

Kia Ora Im Ansar Mahmood, the latest addition to the Rural People family.  I’ve been in NZ for 3.5 years and love it. Prior to this lived in Australia for 20 years.

I’m a Sales Team Leader and a director of a cleaning company. I’m very excited to start my journey with Paula and the team to assist and help NZ farmers.
My forefathers were farmers, and now to be in the industry in this way feels like it was meant to be.

I love reading, going to the gym, playing/watching sports, cooking and BBQs, especially on the beach.

I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.

Francis Renner - HR Advisor

Hi, my name is Francis Renner and I have been with Rural People on a part time basis for over two years.
Based in Ashburton I come from a background of working in the Meat Processing industry where I worked as a HR advisor for sixteen years and as such have gained experience in dealing with a wide range of employment issues as well as being involved with Health and Safety at a grass roots level.
I also completed a Diploma in Human Resource Management and am here to help with all you HR requirements.

Colleen Moore – Office Manager

Hi I’m Colleen Moore. I lived in Perth for 24 years and made my way back home almost 11 years ago. I’m now living in Rangiora and have 4 grown up kids, 3 in Perth and 1 in Sydney.

I met Paula about 3 years ago through masters swimming, so when the opportunity arose to come on board as her Office Manager, it was a no brainer. Having come from a corporate background I’ve brought some experience with me but at the same time had a lot to learn, recruitment being a new field for me, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

I especially like the ethos of Rural People being that clients and candidates are always Paula’s first priority. Her business is unique with her hands-on approach of visiting the client’s farm. Getting to know the clients and their needs ensures we have a better understanding of how they like to run their farm, allowing us to provide the best outcome for them and our candidates. No two days are ever the same, I love the variety, the contact with clients, candidates and staff, it certainly makes life interesting… I’ve finally found the perfect job!
